Autumn and Harvest

Nights are drawing in more quickly, temperatures are dropping and the leaves are turning beautiful shades of red and orange, which can only mean one thing – autumn is upon us! There are so many wonderful learning opportunities that come with the turn of the season and here at both of our nurseries in Maidstone we are celebrating all that it has in store.

From nature hunts in the garden, to leaf printing using fallen leaves and lots of wonderful vegetables growing in our homegrown vegetable boxes, which our chef uses in her delicious meals at the Main Unit, the children who attend Hemsley House are thoroughly enjoying exciting new experiences and challenges with an autumnal theme. These opportunities encourage their understanding of the world that we live in and the impact of time and change around us. Please do remember to bring in some wellies and coats so that we can fully embrace outdoor play in our gardens during this fascinating season!

We love to see what the children are up to at home, too, using our digital learning journeys on the eyLog. Please do continue to make comments and observations so we can integrate the children’s interests into their Next Steps at nursery and continue to provide outstanding quality childcare and the best possible learning experiences for each and every child.

We are also celebrating Harvest and do encourage our families to bring in-date tinned and dry goods to both the Main Unit and Baby Unit to add to our donation, which will be sent on to people in need in our local Maidstone community as we do each year. A big thank you to all who have already donated items and for your continued support.
