A Royal Occasion
We love to celebrate love! Whether this is on Valentine’s day or celebrating our love for mummies and daddies on Mother’s and Father’s day. Most specially this month, we are excited to commemorate the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Miss Meghan Markle!
At the nurseries we are doing lots of fun activities to celebrate. We have been making biscuits (with ‘Royal’ icing’), having afternoon tea (because there’s nothing more royal than a garden party) and decorating our very own crowns! This theme has offered plenty of opportunity to encourage personal, social and emotional development, as well as communication skills. We have loved hearing about the children’s own experiences of weddings too!
We have also encouraged parents to engage with their children at home by writing letters or making cards that we can send to the happy couple to wish them well. We think they will love to open such special things and will be very thankful for the children’s time and thoughts.
If you are celebrating the wedding too, check out these activities you can do with your children to get them involved too:
- Make your own royal wedding bunting! There are plenty of templates online, but if you fancy being a little more creative, why not create your own?
- Make marshmallow pops. To customise them for a Royal Wedding theme, add red and blue food colouring to separate bowls of white chocolate, and use red, white and blue cake decorations and small sweets. For a healthier option, try doing this with fruit!
- Set up a royal wedding photo booth for all of your royal guests! Include crowns and tiaras, veils and moustaches – this can be so much fun and a memory to keep.
The possibilities are endless for crafting, baking and decorating. If you will be watching the Royal Wedding, we hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to hearing more from the children about all they experienced!
